The concept is an ‘Izakaya’ (居酒屋) style of casual dining and drinking.

‘MIYA’ provides modern Japanese cuisine that is authentic but not traditional. The menu showcases a variety of dishes from its four kitchens: the main kitchen, the Sushi counter, the Robata grill and Teppanyaki.
This listed building is full of character and will be a great surrounding for any meal out. Bucks County Council were keen that the building kept its original feel and that is what has happened with the new restaurant. Original features like an old safe and the Sergeant’s booking desk have been kept to provide interest and intrigue for all.
Kelvin (an experienced chef of over 20 years) and his wife Nikki are passionate about food and aim to provide a culinary experience that can be enjoyed by all who visit
The restaurant, affectionately named after their eldest daughter Miya, is of Japanese style based on the ‘Robatayaki’ method which is similar to BBQ cooking. There is an open kitchen which will add to the ambience of the restaurant and will provide a multisensory experience for all.
There will also be traditional sushi and sashimi and of course drinks. The sophisticated and stylish bar will provide the perfect place to sit and drink an aromatic and flavour intensive wine or a cocktail to rival all cocktails. Whatever your tipple, to dine or drink, Miya is going to be something amazingly different for Aylesbury and for all to enjoy.
Months, in fact years of planning has gone in to this to enhance the beauty and tradition of the old police station yet provide a modern and stylish dining experience. You can expect high ceilings, private dining areas, fabulous food and drink as well as great service in a surrounding that is full of history.
